Overview

Mi Tierra Super Taco, nestled on Main Street in the heart of San Diego, offers an authentic taste of Mexican cuisine that resonates with both locals and visitors alike. This modest yet vibrant spot specializes in traditional fare prepared with care and fresh ingredients, making it a beacon for those craving genuine flavors in a casual environment.

The menu highlights speak volumes about their commitment to classic Mexican dishes. The Cabeza Taco stands out for its tender, fatty marrow texture that melts in the mouth, balanced well by fresh cilantro and onions. Meanwhile, the Gorditaa filled with Chicharron on green salsa captures the essence of slow-cooked pork with a tangy, homemade salsa, though some may wish for more generous portions of meat. Their Carne Asada Guacamole is a nod to the regional style of Tijuana, offering slightly crisped meat balanced with creamy guacamole and fresh toppings. For heartier plates, the Chilaquiles Verdes with Chorizo and the Mole con Pollo are comforting choices, paying homage to rich, layered Mexican flavors.

The handmade corn tortillas are a notable feature, serving as a sturdy yet tender base for many dishes. Made fresh in-house, they provide the perfect vehicle for juicy fillings without overwhelming the palate. Complementing these are deep-fried tortilla chips—the staple accompaniment—that pair well with their well-crafted red and green sauces. The red sauce offers a subtle smoky heat, while the green salsa highlights tomatillo’s brightness. Although the Borracho salsa presents a unique texture, it may not appeal to every palate.

Service at Mi Tierra Super Taco has been consistently praised for being friendly and attentive, creating a welcoming atmosphere in a clean and orderly setting. The dining space, while modest, feels genuine and uncluttered, perfect for those seeking a quick yet satisfying meal. It's a versatile spot that attracts families, working professionals, and food enthusiasts who appreciate straightforward Mexican cooking.

Value-wise, Mi Tierra balances generous portions with reasonable pricing, enhancing its appeal among budget-conscious diners without sacrificing quality. The inclusion of a military discount adds a thoughtful touch for those who serve.

For anyone exploring San Diego’s Mexican food landscape, Mi Tierra Super Taco is a destination worth visiting. The blend of tradition, fresh preparation, and flavor integrity ensures a memorable meal that invites repeat visits. Whether you opt for a torta loaded with barbacoa or a trio of tacos featuring adobada and carne asada, the experience remains rooted in authentic Mexican comfort and heart.

Service was excellent. The food was had good flavor but I was expecting more meat pieces in my chicharron plate. There was literally only 2 small pieces. The beans had good flavor and the rice was kind of meh. Overall it was decent. I probably would have enjoyed it more if I got a burrito or torta. UPDATE. Ordered a Barbacoa Burrito the next day and it was delicious! Meat was juicy and flavored well and it was a good size. 10% military discount is also a huge plus.

This is a small taco shop that offers a small but flavorful menu to pick from. The prices are good for the portions and flavors. I ordered 3 tacos and a basket of tortilla chips. Adobada, Carne Asada, and Cabeza - Drinks • Various Mexican sodas • No Beer - Corn Tortillas • Tortillas are hand made in house and have a good thickness to hold the juicy meats and fillings. • Tortillas Chips are store bought tortillas that they deep fry themselves. - Meats • Cabeza was very tender with a fatty marrow texture to it. It was good with the sauces but on its own could use some salt or seasoning to enhance the flavor of the meat. with Cilantro & Onions • Adobada On its own was good, tender, full of flavor and not dry. This was the best of the three. with Guac Cilantro & Onions • Carne Asada was good. TJ style for sure. On its own felt dry compared to the others but the meat was good and had a crispness it it. with Guac Cilantro & Onions - Sauces • Red has a good smoky flavor and a mild spicy kick. It had good flavor and I ate this mostly with the chips instead of the Borracho salsa. • Green has a good tomatillo flavor and blended well together. Very well made. I prefer a spicy sauce but kept eating this one with the chips too. • The Borrcho Salsa for the chips I’m not a fan of. It has a certain flavor to it that I can’t get use to.. but it looks good and it’s chunky. Overall I enjoyed the meal and will return again to try their other menu items.
